I have wondered this for years: Isn't finding 493+ different screechy noises more difficult than having the pokemon say its name? And fine some pokemon don't say it's name, but they all sound like they are dying upon coming out of the ball. Except Kricketune, I like that screechy noise.

Most of them are the same sound effects, but at different frequencies/speeds >Boo/Bowser's laugh Boo's is Bowsers, just sped up

That's true, Gengar. Although I have to say that it would probably make the game somewhat worse if they said their name. Just for the fact that some of them have really strange voices. Like Umbreon, it's really high pitched and sounds like he has a sinus infection, lulz. When I personally think his should be a bit more intimidating.

Some pokemon don't say there names, guest. Like how electabuzz makes blathering noises, and Kingler says "Cookie." Victreebel screams like it's butthurt, arbok says "Chyaaaaaaaaaaaaaabaka". And a LOT of the dragons roar. Some pokemon do that telepathy stuff. Caterpie squeals too. Meowth speaks effin english. IN fact the only sound the bothers me in game are noises that don't fit the pokemon. Dragonite's cry should be deeper for example. Kricketune's IS awesome.

The noises are just different sound frequencies made at different pitches, length and tone. Getting all 493 pokemon to say there name would be an impossible task and make the game even more terrible and thus buried in the same grave as the dude who made it when he finally kicks the bucket.
